Rohu fish curry or Rui Machar Kalia is a very popular Bengali fish curry. Rui |Rohu fish is a river fish extensively found in South Asia. Usually in Bengali fish curry, frying the fish is mustard oil is a must.<\/h2>\n

½<\/span> tsp<\/span> turmeric powder<\/span><\/div>\n
1<\/span> tsp<\/span> salt<\/span><\/div>\n
4<\/span> tbsp<\/span> Mustard Oil<\/span><\/div>\n
Making Curry<\/div>\n
1<\/span> <\/span> inch Cinnamon<\/span><\/div>\n
3<\/span> <\/span> Dried red chilies<\/span><\/div>\n
3<\/span> <\/span> Cardamom<\/span><\/div>\n
3<\/span> <\/span> Cloves<\/span><\/div>\n
1<\/span> <\/span> Bay leaf<\/span><\/div>\n
1<\/span> <\/span> Onion, sliced and large<\/span><\/div>\n
1<\/span> <\/span> Onion, blended paste and large<\/span><\/div>\n
1.50<\/span> tsp<\/span> Ginger Garlic paste<\/span><\/div>\n
1<\/span> tsp<\/span> Red Chilli powder<\/span><\/div>\n
½<\/span> tsp<\/span> Cumin powder<\/span><\/div>\n
½<\/span> tsp<\/span> Coriander powder<\/span><\/div>\n
½<\/span> tsp<\/span> Turmeric powder<\/span><\/div>\n
2<\/span> <\/span> Tomato, blended to puree<\/span><\/div>\n
½<\/span> cup<\/span> Yogurt<\/span><\/div>\n
1015<\/span> <\/span> Cashews, blended to paste<\/span><\/div>\n
45<\/span> <\/span> Green chilies, whole with removed stem<\/span><\/div>\n
½<\/span> cup<\/span> Coriander leaves <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Directions<\/h3>\n

Marinate fish with turmeric powder and salt for 30 mins<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Fry the marinated fish in mustard oil until golden brown.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In the same Oil add the whole garam masala and saute for a minute.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Add \u00bd cup Onions and fry till golden brown<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Add the Blended Onion paste and ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell goes away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Add in all spice powders and cook it well along with the onions for 3 mins.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Now add in the Tomato Puree and stir to combine. Cook the tomato till the raw smell goes away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Add in \u00bd cup Yogurt and cashews blended paste. Mix them well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Add in 1.5 cups of Hot water and Salt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Cook till oil comes on top and then add in the fried fish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Add in the whole green chilies and Cover the lid and cook for 5 mins. Cooking fish along with curry may vary depending on the fish and size of the fish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Add in coriander leaves and serve with hot steamed
