You all must have heard of Thai Basil Chicken. We wanted to prepare the same recipe by using Tofu. Thai Basil Tofu or Tofu Pad Kra Pao is an easy stir fry that comes together in less than 30 mins. If you have really fast chopped and Pre- cooking prep skills you can complete this dish in 15 mins. Believe me, this recipe is so flavourful. It has the perfect blend of spices and sweetness. What tops it off is when you serve it with hot steamy jasmine rice along with deep-fried eggs.
\nIf you are a vegetarian you can substitute the fish sauce with Vegan fish sauce or Salt. Here we have crumbled the Tofu to give it a minced texture. If you wish to add cubes, that is totally up to you guys. You can alter according to your taste.<\/p>\n<\/h2>\n

Sauce<\/div>\n
½<\/span> tsp<\/span> Dark Soy Sauce<\/span><\/div>\n
2<\/span> tbsp<\/span> Light Soy Sauce<\/span><\/div>\n
1<\/span> tsp<\/span> Fish Sauce<\/span><\/div>\n
⅓<\/span> cup<\/span> Water<\/span><\/div>\n
1<\/span> tsp<\/span> Corn Starch<\/span><\/div>\n
Stir fry<\/div>\n
300<\/span> g<\/span> Firm Tofu, mashed into crumbles<\/span><\/div>\n
2<\/span> tbsp<\/span> Oil<\/span><\/div>\n
2<\/span> <\/span> Shallots<\/span><\/div>\n
5<\/span> <\/span> Garlic cloves<\/span><\/div>\n
2<\/span> <\/span> Thai Birds eye Chili, Red (chopped)<\/span><\/div>\n
½<\/span> tsp<\/span> Sugar<\/span><\/div>\n
Thai Basil leaves, handful<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In a bowl, Add Dark soy sauce, Light soy sauce, Fish sauce, Water, and Corn Starch. Give them all a mix and set it aside. To make a Vegan\/Vegetarian version of this recipe, you can substitute fish sauce for Vegan fish sauce or Salt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In a pan, add the crumbled tofu and cook the tofu until it’s slightly dry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Add oil to the tofu and saute the tofu till golden brown.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Push aside the tofu and make some space on the pan. Add some Oil and Shallots and saute it till it’s transparent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

To this add chopped garlic and saute for 30 secs. After 30 secs, add chopped chillies and saute for another 30 secs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Combine sauteed shallots, garlic and chillies along with the tofu. Give them all a good mix.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Now add the prepared sauce and sugar to the tofu. Give them all a mix and cook for 3 to 4 mins until the sauce becomes thick.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lastly, top it with Thai Basil Leaves and give them a good mix.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
