Sri Lankan fish curry or Meen Kulambu in the local language is one of the tastiest and lip-smacking seafood dishes in Sri Lanka. Usually, this curry is prepared from coconut oil, a lot of spices, and coconut milk. For making this curry, I have used mackerel slices, It’s up to you to choose the fish of your choice. Generally in Srilanka, they use Goraka as a souring agent, But you can substitute it for Tamarind if you don’t find it around. At first, the fish is marinated with salt and turmeric. Then the curry is prepared by cooking Onion, Tomato, and spices along with Coconut milk until it turns thick. Then the marinated fish is cooked along with the rich curry. Sri Lankan Chicken Curry

If you are looking for a spicy and flavorful chicken curry, Sri Lankan chicken curry is our favorite. It tastes incredible with the bread of your choice or some people prefer to have it with some hot steamy rice. This curry is prepared from coconut oil, a lot of spices, chicken, and coconut milk. For making this curry, we have used curry-cut chicken pieces and marinated them for a while. The whole spices are first roasted in this recipe till fragrant and then ground to a fine powder. Here the ground powder gives the most prominent spicy and rich flavors. We will roast the chicken in this ground powder and then later to make it creamier and to give it a sweeter texture we will be adding coconut milk. We cannot really explain the goodness of this curry. It moreover takes like Chettinad style chicken curry from Tamil Nadu. The only difference we see is that it’s a little creamy and rich. Malu Kirata or Maalu Kirata is one of the popular types of Sri Lankan fish curry. The curry is mildly spiced and coconut milk-based. It’s flavourful and completely satisfying when served with hot steam rice. In this recipe, we have used Kingfish, but there are no restrictions. You can use any fish that you like. We have sauteed shallots, green chilies, unroasted curry powder, turmeric powder, and other ingredients for this curry. This is then cooked along with coconut milk and combined with marinated fish. Tempered potatoes or Devilled potatoes or “Ala Thel Dala” means “potatoes fried in oil” in Sinhalese. The boiled potatoes are tossed in caramelized onions, curry leaves, and spices. It has an equal blend of sweet and spicy flavors. If you prefer less spicy, you can easily adjust the heat of the Sri Lankan Devilled Potatoes by reducing the amount of chilli flakes used. Sri Lankan black chicken curry or Chicken Kalupol curry is one of the most popular Sri Lankan curries. It’s spicy and so flavourful. Basically for this curry, the whole spices and red chili powder are roasted till they turn aromatic. Then the whole spices are then ground to a fine powder. The chicken is marinated with ground powder and roasted red chili powder. Unlike other curries, this chicken curry doesn’t have coconut milk. It is very simple to prepare and doesn’t take much time.
