Goan Fish Curry

Goa is a popular state in India, typically very famous for its Beaches and Seafood. This recipe brings the authentic Goan Fish Curry made from some prominent ingredients like Kokum skin, grated Coconut, and other spices. This fish curry is usually made from Kingfish, Pomfret, or Spanish Mackerel steaks. This curry has bright vibrant orange color usually served with steamed rice. This curry is one of the most popular fish curries of the Indian subcontinent.

 5 Kingfish/Pomfret/Mackerel steaks
 12 Kashmiri Chilli,Soaked
 2 tbsp Tamarind pulp
 1 tsp Turmeric powder
 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
 1 tsp Cumin seeds
 10 Black Peppercorns
 1 cup Grated Coconut
 Salt
 1 Onion,small
 3 Green Chilli
 1 inch Ginger
 6 Garlic cloves
 3.50 cups Water
 4 Kokum skin
 3 tbsp Coconut Oil

Fish Marination

Marinate the fish steaks with salt and Turmeric powder and set aside for 20 mins.

Making Goan Fish Curry Paste

In a blender, Combine grated coconut, Garlic, Ginger, Coriander seeds, Cumin seeds, Black peppercorns, Tamarind pulp, Turmeric powder, soaked Kashmiri red chilies to a smooth paste.
Add water as required for making the curry paste.

Making of the Curry

In a pan, add some oil and chopped onions. Saute it till it turns golden brown.

To this add the green chillies and curry paste. Combine everything well and cook the curry paste for 2 to 3 mins.

Clear the blender jar with excess curry paste with 3 cups of water and add it to the curry paste. Mix them all well and bring them to a boil.

Add salt and Kokum skin to the curry and cook for 2 mins.

Now add the marinated Fish into the curry and allow the fish to cook well.

Once the fish is cooked, Goan Fish curry is ready. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and see it with some hot steaming rice.
